Situated in the South West of England, the County of Somerset being located close to the Atlantic Ocean has pretty good weather all year round.  As well as a pleasant climate Somerset County offers its visitors many different things to do and see.  What you will soon discover as many visitors to this particular English County have already discovered is that there are things for people of all ages to enjoy when they spend time there.

Cheddar Gorge, Somerset is an attraction that has had visitors flocking to it for a number of centuries now.  As you drive along the public roads you are able to view the highest inland cliffs to be found in England today.  Plus if you are not afraid of heights then why not consider taking along one of the many paths that are situated on the cliff tops of the Gorge and allow you some really stunning views of the ravine.

Taking one of the many guided tours provided at this very popular Somerset County attraction enables you to learn more about their history and how some have been created.  But if this is all a little tame for you then why not consider booking to try a little caving, rock climbing or abseiling instead when you visit the Cheddar Caves.  

But here you don’t need to just spend time exploring the caves, cliff tops and ravines why not visit the Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company to learn how the cheese that carries the name Cheddar is made.  For those who are visiting the area and craved something a little more sweet then a visit to the Cheddar Sweet Kitchen should be included during your visit to this particular attraction.

If you would like to be offered spectacular views that take in not just Somerset but Dorset and Wiltshire as well, then a visit to Glastonbury Tor during your holiday should be included.  A number of excavations have been carried out on this site and where still the tower of a church dating back to the 15th Century remains.  There is evidence to show that two churches have stood on this site both dedicated to St Michael.

But you need to be aware that at the start of July each year it may difficult to gain entry to this attraction because the town of Glastonbury itself is taken over by those attending the Glastonbury Music Festival.  The actual festival only lasts for 5 days but during this time hundreds of thousands of people attend it.

Another place that you should be considering visiting when you spending time in Somerset County is Exmoor.  This is one of England’s National Parks and has some of the most beautiful and dramatic landscape to be found in this part of the world.  But along with the spectacular scenery there are a wide variety of animals for you to try and spot the most famous of these being the Exmoor ponies and Red Deer.  This is the ideal place to visit if you want to relax and unwind and get away from the hustle and bustle of modern living.
